How to refresh, reset, or restore your Windows 8 OS

After a certain point there are chances that your PC will need some maintenance. The simplest way to get your PC back to working mode is to either refresh, reset, or restore your Window 8 OS.

Refresh your PC

won’t change much when it comes your personal data and files. The settings will also remain as it is. All the applications which you installed over time will stay intact too.

Reset your PC :

It will delete all the files ,applications and data. But the one’s which came pre-installed  with the PC will stay. Resetting is to make sure that your recent changes are erased which were causing trouble in your PC.

You could use windows startup settings which includes using safe mode in case you are having some trouble in booting your PC.

So, now you can use either of these options to avoid further trouble.

Another important aspect here is – take a backup of all your data and content so that you have all your necessities. You can take a backup and then restore them back once you reset your PC using file history.

Before you refresh or reset your PC

Every action will have an equal and opposite reaction. So choose your action wisely
When you decide to either restore or refresh your PC you will have to make sure about the reaction it will have in your PC.
Usually the process will complete on it’s own.But sometimes your PC might ask you about the missing files or to insert recovery data, do the needful. All these actions depend on the version of your software and it’s parameters.
If you are using Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1, you will be asked to use the discs and thumb drive that came along with the PC. Check with your manufacturer or seller for the discs and media so that you have all the required things before you jump into a reset or restore action. If you don’t have the disk or required media you can also contact Microsoft Support.
